Programs Offered (Ajax & Pickering Ringette)

PrintPrograms Offered

Our Youth House League Program is available for children ages 4-11 and offers players the opportunity to play Ringette in a local recreational program.  The program is focused around fun and skill development using the ABC program developed by Ringette Canada. This program is designed to develop skating skills while learning the game of Ringette.  The ABC program has 5 areas of focus, which include skating, passing, receiving, shooting, and general knowledge of the game.

House League r
egistration includes 1 practice and 1 game per week, and the season begins just before Thanksgiving and finishes at the end of March (some blackouts may apply). The House League program also includes an additional 10-week development program known as Ringette 101. House League is an ideal entry point for new players and those still developing their skating skills.  Teams will be formed and balanced based on skill and ability.

The Regional Ringette Program is provided for players that are looking for a more competitive game of Ringette and have previous ice skating experience. Players do not need to attend “try-outs” to participate in the Regional program; Regional teams are formed based on registration and the primary concern is team formation, not skill level. The goal and focus of Regional level play program is to ensure every player that wishes to participate in the program has a place to play. Depending on enrolment, Ajax Pickering Ringette offers Regional Ringette for the following ages- U9, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U19.

Regional Ringette consists of 16 league games (Saturdays or Sundays), weekly practices, and additional player development opportunities including power skating and on-ice skills training. Some local travel is required for 8 away games taking place throughout the region (e.g. Whitby, Oshawa, Richmond Hill, Markham, and possibly Mississauga, Newmarket, Barrie and Sunderland). Teams typically participate in 3 or 4 tournaments throughout the year (usually 1 would take place out of town i.e. overnight stay), and the season concludes with a year-end Regional Championship tournament (held locally).

Tournaments and other team-based ancillary costs (e.g. optional off-ice clothing, team-building expenses) are an additional cost on top of the registration fee. Regional players at the U12 and younger age groups also have the option of participating in House League games.

To Register:  Visit our registration homepage.

Provincial A and AA are competitive programs, and representative teams are formed through a try-out process where selected players are invited to join a team. Ajax and Pickering Ringette offers Provincial A programs at the U12, U14, U16 and U19 age levels, and AA teams may be formed at the U14, U16 and U19 age levels through Central Region Ringette. The commitment for Provincial Ringette is higher than a Regional team, and it is expected that Provincial teams receive more ice time for both games and tournaments. Teams generally participate in more than 4 tournaments in a season and there are additional costs associated to further development on and off the ice.  With the exception of the U12 Provincial level, teams need to qualify for year-end Provincial Championships.

To Register: Only those players already selected and notified of being on these teams are eligible to register.

The 18+ Adult Rec program is a recreational league, focusing on fun, fitness and friendship.  We strive to make the league inclusive for all levels of play and the development of new players is very important to the future of our league.  This is a co-ed program that offers both former players and new players a chance to play the game, focusing on the fun of the game! Games are played on Wednesdays at 8:30pm or 9:30pm at O'Brien Arena, Pickering Recreation Complex (no practices!). Games typically start in late September and continue through to the end of March. We also try to participate in a couple of tournaments for those that are interested.

Cost: $360
