Volunteers - Registration

ALL REGISTERED VOLUNTEERS:

All volunteers with the association are required to register with the APRA each season and comply with all APRA and Ringette Ontario policies.

As per the RINGETTE ONTARIO SCREENING POLICY, it is also a mandatory requirement that all registered volunteers of APRA undergo volunteer screening prior to participating in any Ringette Ontario or APRA sanctioned ringette activities. This includes:

Dedicated Team Staff on ALL APRA Teams (including FUN program and 18+ Teams, and On-Ice Assistants)
APRA Board of Directors and Committee Members

REGISTRATION - PART 1 - SCREENING DOCUMENTS:

During registration, volunteers will be required to upload the following documents:

1) A completed Ringette Ontario Screening Disclosure Form

2) A completed APRA Annual Offence Declaration Form

3) A completed APRA Conflict of Interest Declaration Form (for APRA Board and Committee Members only)

*** You will NOT be able to complete your registration without submitting the above forms.

REGISTRATION - PART 2 - CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK:

All volunteers 18 years of age or older will also provide the association with a current Criminal Background Check which can be uploaded during registration. You are still able to complete the registration process if, 1) you have previously submitted a valid Criminal Background Check within the last 3 years (the system will show the date it was received), or, 2) begun the process of obtaining a new CRC. If you have applied for a new CRC, indicate the date the new CRC was requested on your registration form. Email the completed background check to the APRA Registrar asap once it has been received.

Depending on your role, you will be required to submit either a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC), or a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
The Association will accept background checks for the current season, provided it has been less than 1 year from the date of issue.
Background checks or similar attestations from third parties other than local police (e.g. school boards) will not be accepted.
If you have provided the association with the Background Check within the last 3 years, you do not need to submit a new one for the current year.
After a period of 3 years, all returning volunteers will need to complete a new Background Check.
YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY RINGETTE ACTIVITIES UNTIL YOU HAVE PROVIDED THE ASSOCIATION WITH A CURRENT AND APPLICABLE BACKGROUND CHECK

REGISTRATION - PART 3 - COACHES AND TEAM STAFF:

When registering as a Team Staff member please also ensure you are familiar with the RINGETTE ONTARIO TEAM STAFF QUALIFICATION POLICY. The policy outlines requirements for teams including Bench Staff composition and training deadlines. All head coaches are responsible for ensuring all team staff members have valid and up-to-date credentials in advance of the deadlines established by Ringette Ontario. Failure to do so will result in the team staff member being removed from the Team Roster. Ringette Ontario's Team Staff Qualifications Pathways is an additional resource that outlines all requirements, by age and team level, for Coaches, Trainers, Managers, On-Ice Assistants and Junior Coaches.

REGISTRATION AND ASSOCIATED VOLUNTEER FEES:

APRA will continue to pay for your Ringette Ontario membership fees, dues and insurance fees (there will be NO charge added during the registration session). APRA will also reimburse all registered volunteers that support U19 and younger programs for the cost of Criminal Background Checks.
